Giving up on Green

I’m one of those people who hate the overuse of the word “irony” when people just mean “unfortunate&qupt; or “coincidence”. I’m not positive this is irony, but it is stupid.

Our local trash collection region is very green-enforcing. I used to read threat letters about putting recycling in the trash bin. They make recycling super easy by providing a separate bin for it, and don’t require labels to be removed, cans to be crushed, or recyclables to be sorted. But they don’t take plastic bags

The grocery stores, in an effort to be more “green” no longer use paper bags, you can only get plastic. Which, as I mentioned above, our trash collector won’t take for recycling.

Furthermore, I could find a hundred more re-uses for paper bags than I could plastic bags. Plastic bags are good for small trash cans and for carrying your lunch. Paper bags make good book covers, cookie-cooling sheets, gift wrap, newspaper holders, and since they stand up, they’re quite appropriate for a lot of just general use around the home.
